Feeling Flat – Here’s How to Add More Volume to Your Hair

If you’re daydreaming of huge, bouncy, Hollywood-esque hair, you’re not alone. Anyone who doesn’t have natural volume is always striving to fluff up their locks! Hair with plenty of volume looks healthy, full of life, and totally glam. On the other hand, locks lying a bit too flat can look dull, limp, and lacklustre, which probably isn’t the look you’re going for.

Luckily, there are plenty of ways to lift your roots. Here are some of the tips our stylists swear by to add life to your hair.

Try Tape-in Hair Extensions

Hair extensions aren’t just for adding length, but volume too. In fact, you can add extensions that are cut to the same length as your natural locks for the sole purpose of adding more oomph to your look. Tape-in extensions are affordable, easy to look after, and super comfortable. Just make sure that one of our expert stylists puts yours in so that none of the tapes shows through, especially if you have thin hair.

Clarifying Shampoos and Lightweight Conditioners

Build-up of product can be a nightmare in hair, weighing it down and making volume pretty much impossible! Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to make sure you’re not being held back by product build-up. It will cut through what’s there much more effectively than regular shampoo and make sure your locks always look their best. After shampooing, use a lightweight conditioner and apply it only to the ends of your hair – never the roots!

Blow-Dry For Extra Volume

Blow-drying is a fantastic way to add volume to thin, limp hair. Start by spritzing a volumizing spray onto your locks. Then, flip your hair upside down and blow-dry. For extra volume, scrunch your hair at the roots as your dry it for a super bouncy, gorgeous look!

Switch Up Your Style

The same style can eventually lead to your hair looking a little flat. If you want to add volume, try switching up the placement of your parting, which should give you a pretty instant lift and stop your hair from lying flat on your scalp. Change it every few months or whenever you think your locks are looking in need of a switch up.

If All Else Fails, Dry Shampoo!

Dry shampoo shouldn’t be your go-to for volume. It’s a fabulous product that we swear by when our roots look a little greasy, but using it too often can lead to product build-up, and some scalps can experience irritation. But, if you’ve tried everything and it seems as though your hair is just having one of those days, a quick spray of dry shampoo can lift your roots and add a wow factor to your look. Just remember to use a clarifying shampoo to make sure you get it all out at the end of the day!
